FAQs: You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.
Q. Should I repair or replace my HVAC system?
A. When in doubt, follow the surprisingly simple $5,000 rule — an industry-accepted formula for determining whether to repair or replace heating and cooling equipment. Take the unit’s age and multiply it by the estimated cost of repairs. If the cost exceeds $5,000, replacement is generally the best option. Either way, Elite HVAC Pros can provide you with a HVAC cost analysis to help you make an informed decision.
Q. This is all great information, but can I think about it?
A. That choice is always yours, but here are a few things to consider:
- You’ll save 7% today!
- You’ll protect yourself from an emergency system issue.
- Discover the true cost to keep your current system.
- Everything is guaranteed.
Q. You’ve offered me a lowest price guarantee, but shouldn’t I get other bids to be sure?
A. That choice is always yours, but here are a few things to consider:
- You may not receive bids that are “apples-to-apples.”
- Other technicians may not be TruTech Certified.™
- Warranties may be limited and not include labor costs.
- Time consuming.
Q. Is it worth getting multiple HVAC bids?
A. Making sure you are getting “apples-to-apples” estimates can be difficult.
- It’s simple for a Contractor to offer you a lower price, especially if they know the price you’ve already been quoted. Many times, the price you receive will not be the final price you pay.
- All Elite HVAC Solutions pro Technicians are TrueTech Certified™. However, some companies can take short cuts to reduce the cost, and you can always find someone to do the work for less. This might include Technicians that are not well trained or even trained by the Department of Corrections.
- Generally, you will get what you pay for, and a poor installation can severely reduce your system life, lead to costly repairs, and difficulties with your warranty.
- Low bids are usually achieved by using low quality materials, taking shortcuts during installation and poor craftsmanship.
Q. How can I make my HVAC system last longer?
A. Heating and cooling systems are a big investment. Our top four recommendations to help extend the life of your HVAC system are:
- Ensure proper installation.
- Schedule routine HVAC Maintenance.
- Change filters regularly.
- Address repairs promptly.
Q. Is a high efficiency HVAC system worth extra cost?
A. Bigger is NOT always better, especially when it comes to your HVAC system. Systems that are too large will not heat or cool your home properly. Plus, the highest efficiency system may not be worth the additional investment. Click here to learn more about efficiency ratings and the return on your investment.
Q. Isn’t one brand of equipment better than the other?
A. Simply stated, no. There are only seven HVAC system manufacturers. All seven buy the major parts and components from the same companies. Those manufactures then assemble the systems in their own factories. There is very little difference other than the price points.
Q. How soon can my new system be installed?
A. Guaranteed installation. While every home is different, we will evaluate your installation, and give you a firm completion date that’s guaranteed. If we fail to meet that deadline, we’ll refund $100 per day back to you. It’s all part of our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee.
Q. Can I add system options later?
A. Yes – but you’ll save money if you add them now. It’s always better to add beneficial equipment options before your system is installed. This allows our HVAC design specialists to engineer your new comfort system for “whole-house” efficiency and effectiveness – all at a lower cost to you.
Q. Can we install HEPA filters in our HVAC system?
A. Consult with your HVAC technician to be sure. Here’s why:
- Higher-efficiency filters (HEF) remove more particulates and contaminates than cheaper filters, including dust and dirt, pollen, mold and mold spore, protecting HVAC parts from exposure to dirt and debris, which can lead to breakdowns and failures. However…
- If filter efficiency is too great for your HVAC system, the airflow restriction could make the blower motor work harder and cause an issue due to the substantial pressure drop.
- If you are just looking for quick fix improvement by changing out a filter before doing a more comprehensive upgrade with a system replacement in the future, your HVAC tech can then evaluate the system at a more comprehensive level.
Q. Do air filtration systems help to improve allergies?
A. When used properly, studies have shown that whole home air filtration can benefit people with allergies by trapping and reducing airborne particles like pollen, pet dander, mold and dust mites that trigger allergy and asthma symptoms. The degree of effectiveness depends on several factors – the right filter type, size and MERV rating specific to your system. Consult with Elite HVAC Pros or prepare for trial and error.
